Velocissimo is Italian for super fast, which tells you all you need to know about a pair of bib shorts which have helped set the benchmark at this price.

The shorts offer a great fit thanks to the ten-panel construction and borrow fabrics from Castelli’s high-end shorts. Castelli keep the price down, at a penny under £100, by swapping out their top-end seat pad for the KISS Air, but it’s a chamois which we’ve found to offer plenty of comfort on long rides.

Otherwise, the shorts have mesh bib straps, excellent (and wide) elastic grippers on the legs. The shorts are also available in five colours with typical Italian flair.
