The highlight of Core Bike 2011, for one nostalgic journo at least, was a new tubular tyre from Vittoria with a distinctly retro look. Featuring a “para” natural rubber sidewall coating and traditional herringbone tread in black, the Corsa Evo SC looks like something that might have been found hanging in a cool cellar with 20 years’ maturation under its belt.
Instead, here is a tyre with the latest in Vittoria racing technology. Part of the company’s fabled Servizio Corse range, the Evo SC’s ISOgrip tread compound is formulated for grip and low rolling resistance in wet or dry conditions at the expense of tread life. Meanwhile, the latest Corespun 320TPI casing ensures a supple, resilient and speedy ride on all road surfaces.
Described by Vittoria as “a premium version” of the Corsa Evo CX, the SC offers classic looks equally at home on old and new racing cycles and will be available in the UK by late spring priced at £73.99 per tyre.
