Winning ways for SRAM RED

Six teams will campaign with SRAM groupsets this season

It seems but a distance memory when SRAM first announced it was launching its first ever road groupset, but five years later the company is enjoying incredible success and exposure with its flagship RED.

No fewer than six professional teams will campaign the upcoming season aboard RED equipped bikes. These include Astana, Cervelo, Milram, Radioshack, Saxo Bank and AG2R La Mondiale.

SRAM has a huge share of race victories thanks to these sponsored teams. Alberto Contador gave the company its first taste of champagne with a win in the 2008 Giro d’Italia, the first Grand Tour win for the brand. More wins followed with Contador, 1st overall in the 2008 Vuelta a Espana and 2009 Tour de France. Away from the Grand Tours Fabian Cancellara powered to victory in the 2009 UCI World Cycling Championships Individual Time Trial in Mendrisio.

The Kazakhstan team, Astana, concluded 2009 as the number one ranked UCI ProTour squad in the World. Alberto Contador has won each of the Grand Tours over the past two seasons with RED. Team Radioshack, headed by Lance Armstrong, choose RED for 2010. Saxo Bank made the switch in March 2009, and for Team Milram, it will be the second year on SRAM RED for the German team.

After five years in the peloton, SRAM looks set to continue its winning ways into 2010.
