Morale training
Morale training
In the Academy I wasn’t enjoying cycling and I wasn’t progressing but I moved to Livestrong-Bontrager and the results started to come as I was really enjoying myself. I call it morale training.
The stuff that makes you happy is really important: nights out, Nando’s, cake, cars.
If I don’t have a night out every once in a while, I get a bit miserable and everything begins to suffer and I end up not wanting to train. If I have a night out and I’ve got it out of my system then I train well.
But if I then have two nights out I’m doing myself an injustice and am biting myself in the backside, therefore I don’t enjoy the night out and I’m not enjoying the training because I know I’m not putting enough into it.
You’ve got to strike the right balance between enjoying what you’re doing and being fully committed.
