Tell the truth
Tell the truth
A training diary shouldn’t just be a means of showing off to your mates and fellow riders – particularly if you use a public platform like Strava.
The personal comments and analysis of a ride contained within the diary should be exactly that – personal and, most importantly, truthful. And the best way to do that, Gallagher says, is to fill in your diary as soon as the ride has been completed.
“The information about the ride is still fresh in your memory if you do,” he explains. “I would say as soon as you are done, upload your data and make some comments. Us cyclists like to forget how painful things are and it’s much more use to you if you have been truthful at the time.
“That’s the other key thing – honesty. You’re not there to impress everybody, you are there to provide some realistic information about how your ride went that day.”
So, now you’ve recorded you’re data and a subjective appraisal of your ride, how do you use that to inform your training?
