The Bicycle Film Festival returns to London between October 5-9 for its eighth consecutive year in the capital.

Organisers are expecting 300,000 people to descend on the Barbican Centre – a stone’s throw from RCUK HQ – over the five-day festival, which aims to celebrate all things cycling, from road and mountain biking, to BMX and cyclo-cross.

Film highlights include Sunchasers, a documentary which follows the lives of three disabled women – 53-year-old Barbara Buchan, 28-year-old Karissa Whitsell and 20-year-old Greta Neimanas – each in distinct periods of their cycling careers as they prepare for the Beijing Paralympic Games.

A host of short films will also be shown, while other attractions include music from The New Cassettes and Rollapaluza Roller Racing. The festival will close with a bike-themed pub quiz at the Look Mum No Hands cafe in Old Street.
