Cotswold Edge Sportive organisers have added a sting in the tail to their ride on Sunday October 9 – with a choice of two climbs to finish the route.
The event features a choice of 128km, 101km and 73km routes, with up to 2,100m or climbing, and finishing with the ‘official’ drag to the event HQ in Hawkesbury Upton, South Gloucestershire.
However, if you want to finish your season by bagging one last major climb – and if you have the legs and resolve for that final calf burning epic – riders can throw in a 4km detour which tackles the 20 per cent Kilcott Hill.
Riders who tame the final climb earn a highlight in the results list and a free 2011 Southern Sportive t-shirt.
But before all that, the ride heads out on wide smooth roads, twisty quiet lanes, steep climbs and flowing descents along the western edge of the Cotswolds, with views over the Severn Estuary, across to the Forest of Dean and, on a clear day, the Black Mountains.
The route will be fully signposted, with well-stocked feed stations, Perfomance Cycles mechanical support vehicles and RFID rider timing.
Entry costs between £15 and £18, depending on what distance you choose. Secure your place online at www.southernsportive.com
