British Cycling announce major road events for 2012

British Cycling has announced its calendar of major road events for 2012.

Bradley Wiggins won the 2011 national title

Among the key dates in the calendar are the National Road Race Championships, which will take place in Ryedale, North Yorkshire on Sunday June 24.

Bradley Wiggins was crowned national champion after this year’s race in Northumberland, with defending champion Geraint Thomas forced to settle for second, while Pete Kennaugh took third.

The British Time Trial Championships will take place in Leicestershire on Sunday September 2, when Alex Dowsett will return to defend his crown.

The Tour of Britain will run from September 9-16, providing the pro peloton with the perfect warm-up ahead of the World Championships a week later.
