38,000 for Hovis Freewheeler Cycle Event

The first Hovis London Freewheel is gearing up to be the biggest mass participation bike ride the capital has ever seen, as figures released today show 38,000 riders have now signed up to take part.

Tens of thousands of cyclists are set to take over central London for a day enjoying the city’s most iconic sights on a 14km route free of other traffic.

As a result of this overwhelming response and in order for the event to run safely and smoothly, capacity for the event is now full – but it is not too late to get involved on the day.

Experienced cyclists can take part by signing up as a volunteer to help guide less-confident cyclists into the central London route from the hubs. To sign up as a volunteer go to www.londonfreewheel.com.

Londoners can also come along to the Freewheel Festival in St. James’s Park on foot, bus or Tube for a fun packed family-friendly celebration of cycling which will include a Hovis picnic, cycling acrobatics, a cycling circus and BMX, mountain and trail bike stunts. There will be activities for children and lots of information about cycling in London.
