Born to Bike is a new Midlands based cycle club that was born out of the frustration of what traditional clubs offer, and aims to develop a revolutionary approach to progressing cycling.
Born to Bike will support all aspects of cycling at all levels and will help its members achieve whatever it is they want to accomplish from cycling. A web portal, www.borntobike.org will go live on the 31 January 2010 and will provide a resource for members as well as a place to share their experiences and communicate with each other.
Bridgtown Cycles, a family run bike shop that has been around for 35 years will provide a physical base for Born to Bike. Through their involvement with Born to Bike Bridgtown Cycles aim to put something back into the cycling community and there is no expectation that you need to be a Bridgtown Cycles customer to get involved in Born to Bike.
Born to Bike is affiliated to British Cycling and actively promotes every level of cycling including café rides, sportives, road racing, time trialling, trail, XC, enduro and downhill mountain biking, cyclocross, track racing, family rides, triathlon and anything bike you can think of that involves two wheels.
Born to Bike has numerous members who are weekend warriors and regularly ride races and events on and off road. If you have ever wanted to ride a 24 hour mountain bike event, a time trial, road race, sportive or your first centaury but have never been able to realise your ambition Born to Bike will provide you with the ideal opportunity to get involved offering you support, advice and the inspiration to realise your goals.
Born to Bike has an established a women’s time trial team that is fully expected to win national titles. In addition a select number of younger road and mountain bike riders have been given the opportunity to be part of our development squad and will hopefully use Born to Bike as springboard for their future achievements.
As well regular Tuesday night road rides and Thursday mountain bike fun on Cannock Chase Born to Bike will also be promoting family cycling fun days and numerous social riding weekends around the UK. There are also plans to arrange yearly foreign trips to take in the big pro races whilst getting some road/off road riding in hopefully, fulfilling some lifelong ambitions in the process.
