The line-up of riders for Revolution 6 on the 4th December has been finalised, with the great news that Bradley Wiggins, Olympic Champion will once again take to the boards for the hugely successful Manchester event. Bradley will be riding all the endurance events on the night, but it’s going to be particularly good to see him and his Olympic team mate Rob Hayles together again in a top quality Madison. With Bradley and Rob joining a host of international riders the men’s field is impressive, but there’s a surprise in store for Revolution regulars – for the first time since the event started in November 2003 Revolution organisers will be putting on an elite women’s event – and who better to ride the first ever Revolution Women’s Points Race than the multi-talented Nicole Cooke.
Nicole, who’s palmares heaves under the weight of 5 Junior World Titles, a Commonwealth Title, the Women’s World Cup Title and The Overall Maglia Rosa for the Giro Donne, to name but a few, is a serious force to be reckoned with on the road, and now she’s ready to give the track a try again, having not ridden competitively on it since she was a junior. Nicole said earlier: And what a field it is, with some of the best female talent British Cycling has to offer. Joining Nicole will be British Olympians Emma Davies, who recently signed with the Belgian Team Vlaanderen-Interim, Rachael Heal, who currently rides for Farm Frites-Hartol and a young lady who’s no stranger to the track; Victoria Pendleton who will use her sprinting skills to try and take those valuable points. The field will include 10 other women from the UK scene all aiming to prove to the Revolution crowd how exciting women’s track racing can be.
