Storming Wyman!
Team Bottecchia/Fat Birds don’t Fly elite Cyclo-cross rider Helen Wyman has had a wonderful season.
Her latest fantastic result came in the Vlaamse Druivenveldrit race in Belgium yesterday. Helen is still only 23 and is currently UCI ranked number 3 in the world, so she is looking like a possible medal contender for the World Championships which are held in Germany on 29th January ’05.
Vlaamse Druivenveldrit – Elite Women result:
1 Daphny van den Brand (Ned) 38.10
2 Helen Wyman (Gbr) @ 0.58
3 Marianne Vos (Ned) @ 1.15
4 Victoria Wilkinson (Gbr)
5 Hilde Quintens (Bel)
Gibb signs for DFL
Crit and track specialist Tony Gibb has signed for the latest UK pro-team DFL. One of the country’s top bunch race riders on the track and a Scratch Race Silver medalist at the World Track Championships in 2002, Tony Gibb has signed a two year deal for the country’s newest pro team, Driving Force Logistics. He will join Yanto Barker and 10 or so other promising young riders in the UK’s second pro team to launch in as many months. Could this see a return to some City Centre Cycling? or perhaps some UK victories in the Tour of Britain? Let’s hope so.
