Good Friday Track Meeting – 2005

Tour de France star Stuart O’Grady revels in the applause of 5000 plus fans in 2003

The Good Friday International Track Meeting returns after a one year break
on Friday, 25 March, 2005. Event organiser Graham Bristow says, ‘I am delighted to announce that the Southern Counties Cycling Union’s annual GOOD FRIDAY MEETING is again being held at London’s Herne Hill Velodrome on March 25th.’

After a “year out” the SCCU are building on the success of the Centenary
edition in 2003 and are planning a feast of top quality racing to take place
on Good Friday 2005 featuring well known stars of road and track. As ever,
the meeting will be designed to provide a day of fun and entertainment for
all to enjoy.

The programme will showcase the ever popular 10 Minute Pursuit starring some big names in road racing plus the traditional International Sprint – with
sprinters from around the world, to culminate in the lucrative Golden Wheel
Scratch Race.

Sprint final, Italian Roberto Chiappa leads Olympic gold medalist Chris Hoy through the last turn. Hoy came round to take the win on the line

Supporting events will include the White Hope Sprint for up and coming
sprinters, Devil and Points races. Those who like a bit of noise with their
excitement won’t be disappointed with the planned motor-paced event!

With ample catering and refreshment outlets to care for the inner soul, what
more could anybody want?
