Graeme Obree will open the Bike Bath cycling festival by speaking at a ‘Celebration of Cycling’ evening on Friday June 22.
The former hour record holder, twice an individual pursuit world champion, will share his unique insights into cycling and give a glimpse in to his indestructible determination.
Doors open at the Bath Pavilion from 7pm, with entry free to all riders registered to complete the Saturday and Sunday sportives. Non-riders are asked to make a £5 contribution to the charity, Aquaterra, on the door.
Sharing the stage with Obree will be author Rob Penn and local ultra-endurance rider Ben Rockett, record holder for riding from Land’s End to John O’Groats and back.
The Friday evening celebration will also give registered riders the opportunity to enjoy a pasta party prepared by Michelin starred chef Rob Clayton. Pre-booking through the Bike Bath website is required.
Bike Bath continues over the weekend with 30, 60 and 100-mile sportive routes on both the Saturday and Sunday, while there will also be Rollapaluza roller racing on the Saturday evening.
