Cyclosportive organisers Ken & Barbara Robson are delighted that their
Highclere Castle event of last year has now been accredited with a UCI 2007
calendar listing. "We believe that the quality of our route designs, attention
to rider care and overall support last year has enabled this to happen."
says a happy Ken Robson.
This year the Highclere Castle Sportive will be held on Sunday 10th June and
will be featuring the 115mile Victor Ludorum Challenge and 72mile Downs Challenge.
Victor Ludorum is all about best performance on the day; the title originating
from the Roman games.
To this end, Ken stresses "We want all riders to perform to their best.
Rider feedback has helped us build on high support standards already set last
year. Our 2nd edition ride includes:
– New anticlockwise courses
– Three new climbs: Old Winchester, Stoner and Hannington Hills
– Upgraded main controls: Bike-mechanic services and toilet / washroom facilities"
In 2006, the 4-person team challenge was very popular. This will be repeated
along with the individual performance awards for both courses, judged against
gold/silver/bronze standards by age category.
To help riders reach the peak of their performance, there is a month by month
series of Audax Victor Ludorum training events starting in March.
Barbara and Ken recognise that cycling at this level is demanding and competitive.
Their stated core value is "providing the best, because cyclists count."
They look forward to welcoming all riders to the spectacular grounds of Highclere
Castle, near Newbury, Berkshire on June 10th.
Details of the Audax training rides, and the launch of a brand new Cyclosportive
event in September: "The Best of the Golds", will be available shortly. For
