Make the most of the four-day weekend

Two bank holidays usually means congestion, DIY and miserable weather. But the number of organised rides, road races, time trials and more, mean this weekend there is definitely something to whet your appetite. The weather forecast looks good, so now is the time to start putting in the miles in preparation for the summer.

Beginning with the glorious backdrop of southwest Scotland, the 230 mile Girvan 3-day Stage Race is now in it’s 36th year. Last years winner, Malcolm Elliot, will be hoping to hang onto the much-coveted title.

Travelling to Wales, the Ceredigion Tour of the Mining Valleys race covers four laps of a ten-mile circuit. The competitors want to watch out for the mile long climb out of Pontrhydygroes up to New Row though, but the first rider over the summit will win a bonus prize.

Perhaps racing isn’t your thing though. The Spring Road Route lets you choose from a 20km, 50km or 100km distance. A well marked route on quiet and safe roads, through the rich Hampshire landscape.

These are just a few of the events happening this weekend. If you want to find a ride or race more to your tastes, or close to home, search the Events database
