The second leg of the CycleOps Power Road Sportive series hits Marshbrook, Shropshire, this weekend (Saturday July 2).
The Marshbrook Sportive, starting at Shropshire Hills Mountain Bike and Outdoor Pursuit Centre, offers an 85-mile Classic route, with 2,800m climbing, or 50-mile Standard ride, with 1,700m of ascent.
Both options tackle the 20 per cent Burway climb out of Long Stretton, before continuing through the Shropshire hills on what RCUK editor Richard Hallett described as “one of the most delightful organised rides routes I’ve encountered” during the preview ride earlier this month.
Entry costs £27 for either route and includes feed stations, post-event tea/coffee and cake, camping from Friday to Monday, parking, bike washing facilities and spot prizes. You can enter online in advance or on the day with a £5 surcharge.
The sportive runs on the same weekend as the Chain Reaction Cycles MTB Marathon, which takes place on Sunday and offers 25km, 50km and 75km off-road routes. Riders wishing to test themselves across both disciplines can purchase a discount ticket for £47.
