As you read this article Mike Cotty is beginning his attempt to ride the 690km route the Pyrenees coast-to-coast in 35 hours.
It’s a feat that we believe has never been achieved before. He’ll be following a route based on the Raid Pyrenean, a historic ride that follows guidelines established in the 1950s by the Cyclo Club Bearnaise, and includes the Aubisque, Soulor, Tourmalet, Aspin, Peyresourde, Mente, Portet d’ Aspet, Port, Pailheres, Moulis, Garabel, Jau.
That’s some serious climbing. Usually it takes riders somewhere in the region of 100 hours.
Mike is starting his ride at 9am GMT on Thursday 8th September. And you can followed the epic endeavour right here. Mike will be followed by a support car relaying live tracking data plotting his current position, and route, on the map below.
You can find out more about Mike at his website, www.mikecotty.co.uk and follow him on Twitter @cottydale.
