Revolution adds more top names

Ben Swift is one of the confirmed stars at this weekend’s Revolution

More international cycling stars have confirmed their attendance of the forthcoming Revolution track series taking place at Manchester Velodrome this Saturday.

Matt Goss of Team Saxo Bank, Katusha’s Ben Swift and recent Silence-Lotto recruit Adam Blythe are the newest additions. Goss, a former Team Pursuit World Champion, will be returning to the track after a season on the road with Saxo Bank where he took two stages of the Tour de Wallonie, finished 3rd in Gent-Wevelgem and claimed victory in Paris-Brussels. Goss is confident that this excellent road form will translate into a winning performance on the track.

“I’m really looking forward to Revolution at the weekend,” Goss says. “Track is where it all began for me and I can’t wait to get back on the boards and do some damage. It would be great to shake up some of the GB guys who probably think they’ve got their races sewn up!”

Also at Revolution is young British rider Ben Swift. Swift took his maiden professional victory this year, winning the penultimate stage of the Tour of Britain, and it’s not just on the road where the young rider has shown real potential. After helping Team GB to a gold medal in the Team Pursuit at last weekend’s Track World Cup, Swift is already familiar with success on the Manchester boards. He will be looking to repeat the experience at Revolution as he competes for his team Forza, under the captaincy of Roberto Chiappa.

Finally, Adam Blythe is another young Brit returning to the Revolution after making his mark on the pro road scene this season. Blythe was recently signed to Silence-Lotto and has already produced a good string of results for the team. He previously enjoyed success in 2007 in the UIV six day scene, winning in Ghent with Peter Kennaugh. A former British Champion in the Madison, Blythe will be eager to demonstrate his sprint power in front of the home crowd on Saturday.

Seated tickets for the first Revolution have now sold out but a handful of standing tickets are still available. Hospitality tickets are also available for individuals or tables of 10. For tickets and further information, visit the website www.cyclingrevolution.com
