Geraint Thomas registered a top 10 finish in April’s Tour of Flanders and now the current Tour de France white jersey holder is offering amateur cyclists the chance to ride alongside him on Belgium’s famous cobbles.
‘De Ronde with Geraint Thomas’ is a three-day tour, on August 17-20, led by the Olympic team pursuit gold medallist, with 70-95km per day, including the infamous Koppenberg, Oude Kwaremont and Muur-Kapelmuur cobbled climbs.
The trip is organised by Thomson Sport and packages start from £869 per person. A professional photographer will document the trip and, following the first day’s riding, 16-time Tour de France stage winner Freddy Maertens will lead a guided tour through the Centrum Ronde van Vlaanderen (CRVV) – the home of Flandrian cycling. After the second day’s riding, Thomas will host a Q&A session.
“Thomson Sport will play a vital role in operating this unique cycling experience and I’m delighted to be working with such a key player within the sports travel industry,” said 25-year-old Thomas.
“I’m sure their unparalleled knowledge and experience across the sport and travel sector will deliver an authentic and memorable cycling experience for riders of all abilities.”
Riders will stay for three nights half-board at a 4* hotel in Kortrijk, Belgium and the price also includes luxury return coach travel from Manchester, Birmingham or London, a full CNP Professional sports nutrition package during each ride, a professional cycling coach to offer advice and support throughout, a tour of the CRVV, post-ride meals, secure bicycle storage, two 12×8 photo prints in a commemorative folder and a ‘De Ronde with Geraint Thomas’ goody bag.
