The third ride in the CTC’s sportive series will pay tribute to former cycling industry bigwig Ron Kitching by having a retro classification for pre-1990 bikes.
Kitching founded one of the UK’s largest bicycle and parts importers in the UK, bringing a host of overseas bike brands and components to these shores.
The Ron Kitching Ride on Saturday June 25 takes in some of his favourite roads over the North Yorkshire Moors, with a category for riders with bikes from 1989 or before.
There will be a prize for best bike on show and all retro riders will receive a commemorative souvenir photo of the day.
The ride has two routes – 100km and 150km – with the long option including The Chimney – a 33 per cent climb and one of the steepest roads in the country.
The courses will be fully signposted, have fully stocked feed stops, electronic timing, mechanical back-up and a broom wagon. Each entrant will also receive a goodie bag.
Entry costs £17 for CTC members, £27 for non-members and £60 for any team of four. For full details visit www.ctcchallengerides.co.uk
