The second ride in the CTC’s 2011 Challenge Ride and Sportive series will take place in Guildford, Surrey next Sunday, May 29.
Two distances will be available – 57 miles with 2930ft of climbing and 95 miles with 5023ft of ascent – with the option of changing your mind en-route if needed.
Both rides head in a south westerly direction using quiet roads and lanes through Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire before looping back to the finish in Guildford.
Starting from the CTC’s national office in Railton Road, both routes head west to the village of Christmas Pie before venturing south through the lanes to Tilford and on to Liphook where the first feed stop is located.
Here the routes divide with the 57-mile option heading north back to Guildford, while the longer 95-mile route continues south to Petworth, back north again to Haslemere through rolling countryside before a handful of climbing suprises on the home leg (route profiles in the gallery). There is an additional feed stop on the 95-mile route.
The courses will be fully signposted, with fully-stocked feed stops, electronic timing, mechanical back-up and a broom wagon. Each entrant will also receive a goodie bag.
Entry costs £17 for CTC members or £27 for non-members. Any team of four costs £60. For full details head to www.ctcchallengerides.co.uk
