Antiseptic Healing Ointment – seems to work

A nasty stack a few weeks ago has taken a fair chunk of skin from my wrist and fingers. Thanks to St. John’s I was gathered up and off to hospital. Problem was they’d already dressed my wounds and the pain only increased (10 fold) as the Band Aids were taken off… ow.

N.B. – don’t wear a watch (especially a metal one) when riding, they can really hurt!

Anyway, a few days later, a chance meeting with Trystan from Rapha USA was a lucky one. He handed me a tube of Brave Soldier Antiseptic Healing Ointment, he knows the guys that run the company and they have a stack of good stuff for road rash, cuts and bruises – He never leaves home without some. Plus they do ‘men’s products’ like shave cream and moisturiser… So, I kept applying the stuff daily and within a few days the soreness and itchy feeling was a lot less and it does seem to have healed quicker than previous grazes and road rash.

As their website states:

“The original product in the Brave Soldier line, Antiseptic Healing Ointment was formulated specifically to speed the healing of road rash. A unique blend of healing botanicals and powerful pharmaceuticals helps wounds heal up to 40% faster and greatly reduces the chance of scarring. Tea tree oil, one of nature’s strongest antiseptics, combines with jojoba oil and vitamins in a soothing balm ideal for treating sports injuries as well as everyday cuts, scrapes and abrasions.”

Brave Shave is the shaving cream from Brave Soldier and it’s a lot like Clinique Mens shave cream (for those familiar with poncy men’s grooming products) It lasts for ages and gives a great finish (by the way its for your chin, not your legs!) They also do a shower shave if you need help with your leg fuzz.

Not available directly from retailers in the UK, we’ll keep you posted if this changes, but in the mean time check out their site
www.bravesoldier.com There’s loads of interesting stuff about healing and keeping wounds clean and moist, definitely worth a read.
