September’s inaugural Festival of Sport will include a sportive with 100 and 150km ride options through west Cornwall on Saturday September 15.

Riders will enjoy some of Cornwall's finest views

Organised by Participate Sport, the team behind the Dragon Ride, Etape Cymru and Cycletta, the Festival of Sport is a three-day event focussed on cycling, triathlon, beach running and open water swimming.

Sportive riders will enjoy routes taking in St Michael’s Mount, Cape Cornwall, Land’s End, Penzance and The St. Just Mining District, and the event will have electronic chip timing, finish line filming, photography, medals, mechanical support and secure bike storage. A 40km women-only Cycletta ride will also take place.

The festival will include live music and entertainment (with headline music acts to be announced), locally sourced food by Jamie Oliver’s Fabulous Feasts and a beer tent run by the St Austell Brewery.

Malcolm Bell, head of Visit Cornwall, said: “In 2012 Cornwall will be celebrating theOlympic year with a host of sporting events both on land and the water and theCornwall Festival of Sport will be one of the sporting highlights. Cornwall’s natural environment, with its dramatic landscapes and seascapes, creates the perfect arena for participants and spectators of the Cornwall Festival of Sport 2012.”
