Jens Voigt to lead Leopard-Trek at the Tour of Britain

Three-time Tour de France stage winner Jens Voigt will spearhead Leopard-Trek’s attack at the Tour of Britain.

The Tour of Britain takes place from September 11-18

The 39-year-old German is a firm fans’ favourite in the peloton for his attacking style, as well as for the catchphrases he’s provided in a 14-year professional career – the best of which can be heard on this Jens Voigt Soundboard.

Voigt is joined by Will Clarke (Aus), Linus Gerdemann (Ger), Dominic Klemme (Ger), Giacomo Nizzolo (Ita) and Martin Pedersen (Den) in the six-rider line-up.

The eight-stage Tour of Britain, which starts in Scotland on Sunday September 11, is building its strongest line-up to date, with 2010 world champion Thor Hushovd already confirmed as Garmin-Cervelo’s leader.

And five-time world track champion Theo Bos (Ned), 2010 world under-23 champion Michael Matthews (Aus) and former world under-23 time trial gold medallist Lars Boom (Ned) have been named in Rabobank’s line-up, while Europcar and An Post Sean Kelly have also revealed their squads today.

“This year’s Tour of Britain is building up to have our best field yet,” said race director Mick Bennett.

“The fact that UCI World Tour teams like Rabobank and Leopard Trek are sending such strong line-ups speaks volumes about The Tour of Britain and how the race is continuing to go from strength-to-strength.

“With riders like Theo Bos, Thor Hushovd and other top sprinters contesting the sprints, I am sure that both the Yodel Sprints and Prostate Cancer Charity Points Jerseys will be hotly contested.”
