Recently landed with a soft “pluff” on the RCUK editorial desk, the latest garment from Le Col promises to make the imminent autumnal weather (What do you mean, imminent? It’s here already) more bearable thanks to a timely combination of long sleeves, a warm fabric and the UK marque’s usual stylish lines.
Essentially a long-sleeved version of the short-sleeved Arcus jersey now positioned as Le Col’s “flagship” garment, it employs the same Pontetorto Sportsystem TechnoWool fabric, which marries 72percent polyester with 8percent polyamide and 20percent Merino wool to create a super-thin layered material with a snug fit, effective temperature control and good durability.
Features include a full-length zip, the usual three rear pockets of which the right-hander has a zipped accessory pocket suitable for MP3 player, elasticated cuffs and hem and contrasting stitching. The fit is described as “aero”, which in cycling-speak means figure-hugging to a fault; Le Col advises considering opting for a size larger than normal but this reviewer, who normally wears large, has found the large size sample to be a comfortable fit.
Sizes run S to 3XL and the only colour option is white. Wearing impression soon on RCUK.
