New 230km Aussie Sportive for 2010

Three Peaks Challenge Profile
Savage route profile

The inaugural 3 Peaks Challenge will take place on Sunday, March 7, 2010. With the recent surface sealing of the Bogong High Plains Road between Falls Creek and the Omeo Highway, a route suitable for a European-style road cyclosportive event has been opened up around the Alpine Region of the Australian state of Victoria, which is being promoted as the ideal base for cycle touring Down Under due to its diverse terrain and equable climate.

The new 230km route starts and finishes at Falls Creek, circumnavigating Victoria’s Alpine Region traversing Tawonga Gap, Mt Hotham, then back to Falls Creek via Omeo.

With four ride options available over this route, riders can choose between the ultimate challenge of riding solo all 230km, sharing the load with a friend by taking part in the relay, or enjoying the scenery and experiencing the uncharted climb up Falls Creek on the new Bogong High Plains Road with one of two 115km sections of the route.

Rider numbers are strictly limited to 3000 participants. Full details including registration page may be found at www.bv.com.au.
