Oscar Freire claimed his first win in Katusha colours to win stage four of the Tour Down Under in trademark fashion.

Three-time world champion Freire (Katusha) survived the climb to contest the final sprint, with Gerald Ciolek (Omega Pharma-QuickStep) taking second and Daniele Bennati (Radioshack-Nissan-Trek) third

Kohler leads the general classification by two seconds over Michael Matthews (Rabobank) and Freire. Saturday’s Queen Stage will see the peloton finish with the climb of Old Willunga Hill, set to provide a GC shake-up ahead of the final stage
