There are several stories behind this bike. First of all it’s the bike ridden all this year by Crit supremo Warrick Spence, albeit that this is a new one and not his. Secondly it’s been designed by Cyclefit to be a race bike with fast handling and comfort in equal measure. And thirdly it’s a ‘homage’ to Eastway – the London race circuit which closes this year to make way for some Olympic Hockey pitches (or something similar).
Built with a full 2007 Record Gruppo |
Warrick is currently in second place in the National Circuit Series, having won the hellishly technical and brutal Guildford round (he also won this event last year). He missed out in Glasgow on Monday but will fight it out all the way against Malcolm Elliott for the overall title.
This bike was designed with his input and Cyclefit’s experience in bike fitting. It’s made in Italy and can be built custom too (you’ll need to be fitted for this). This is a customer’s bike and they wanted as much of the kit to be similar to Warrick’s as possible. We have asked for a test bike so hopefully will get something similar soon to have a spin on.
Warrick uses Stella Azzura kit, Zipp wheels and Zero Gravity brakes so this isn’t strictly the same spec. but with 2007 Record all over it we can hardly complain. It weighs a similar amount, needless to say.
Glider is Cyclefit’s in-house brand. We have some pictures of three of their other bikes to follow soon: The Boxer, The Boxer Cyclo-Cross and the Tupelo. They are also testing a full carbon bike, ready for launch in a few month’s time.
