Gore Bike Wear have always produced the finest quality fabrics and their latest range of Spring/summer road stuff landed on our laps a couple of weeks ago. The emphasis is on portability and the two Windstopper tops are certainly small, yet still offer plenty of protection from the elements.
We had a blast in the Windstopper windtunnel at the TCR show a month or so back. Dave’s only just recovered, it knocked the stuffing out of him.
Fortunately the weather has been pretty kind to us so far this Spring, so we’ve only worn the rain/wind jacket once or twice, but the rest of the Gore gear has already had a few outings… Our first impressions here – a full test to follow.
Shark Jersey – £50.00
Lovely soft fabric and plenty of attention to detail. Conclealed 3/4 length zip and easy to access deep pockets. Neat trim around the rear of the pockets too with Scotchlite and a zipped pocket for valuables. It’s a fair bit of money for a short sleeve jersey but it does feel high quality and would be a nice outfit for that special day out… Flash but not too flash and nice bold colours.
Also available in orange, green, blue, red or black.
Power Bib Shorts – £60.00
The Lycra is thin and flexible, but appears to be pretty hard wearing. Excellent pad, which is the right combination of comfort and not too thick. First impressions are good and in white/black they look really bling. They are certainly a match for shorts that cost twice as much. Also available in blue, red or all black.
Xenon Jacket – £110.00
Windstopper is superb stuff. Ergonomic fit with a bumflap built in to protect you from the elements. Lined sleeves but not the body, means that the jacket is light and warm (for your arms) but packs down small to fit easily into a jersey pocket. Perfect for riding to and from races and for the odd unexpected shower. Packs away really small and comes with a carry case. Available in red, orange, blue or all black.
Xenon Vest – £65.00
Like the jacket of the same name this is made from the latest lightweight Windstopper fabric. Not had a chance to try it out yet but the fit is very comfy and it looks good on. Plenty of Scotchlite panels and it packs away really small and comes with a carry case. Available in red, blue or black.
