The Giro continues in warm weather and on stage 12 up the Tuscan coast. Ivan Basso now has a substantial lead going into the third week and many of his rivals have already thrown in the towel. However remember last year…?

Charly Wegelius continues to have a solid Giro and is in 79th place after stage 14, well in the top half of the field withe the big mountains still to come. Jan Ullrich is having a better than average Giro and his TT victory lifted his spirits and his GC position.
