National Hill Climb Championship on Sunday

Dan Fleeman came within 0.6 seconds of breaking Phil Mason’s (pictured) 27-year-old Catford Hill Climb record in 2007

Defending champion Dan Fleeman returns to defend his RTTC National Hill Climb Championship title on Sunday.

The 2011 event takes place on Dover’s Hill, Weston-Sub-Edge, Gloucestershire – providing 1,487 yards of torture.

Team Raleigh rider Fleeman, second and third in this year’s Catford CC and Bec CC Hill Climbs, heads a 150-strong field, with last year’s silver medalist Matt Clinton (Mike Vaughan.co.uk), former champion James Dobbin and Catford victor Robert Gough (Arctic Premier RT) among the challengers.

The first rider sets off at 11.01am, with Fleeman the last to take on the hill at 1.30pm. Presentations, by five-time national champion Jim Henderson, will take place at 2pm. The road will be closed to traffic from 10.30am until 2pm.

Parking will be available, some at the finish, where there will also be toilets, refreshments and a result board on hand.
