New Cycling Club from Rollapaluza

Roller racing specialists Rollapaluza took part at over 50 roller-races with 3000 competitors in the 12 months to March 2008. Events included The Hovis Big Freewheel, The Tour de France London prologue, the Single Speed World Championships in Aviemore and a 40- date roller-racing tour of UK university campuses.

2008 is expected to be an even bigger year for the crew responsible for the resurgence of roller-racing in the UK, with many big events already lined up and plans for a winter series of regional championships, qualifying riders for a national championships in London.

Rollapaluza now have two fully restored sets of competition rollers with a third currently being refurbished to their high standards.

For community and cycling festival work these rigs can now produce electricity to power lights, music and other appliances.

The Rollapaluza rigs have also been fully converted to take all-sizes of Childrens’ bikes which are being supplied by our bike sponsor Condor Cycles of London who have already provided four new, roller-race specific machines.

Due to the renewed popularity of roller- racing Rollapaluza have decided to form a club. Rollapaluza CC is not just intended for roller-race specialists but wants to attract any cyclists who want to be a member of a less formal club that will encourage members to try all forms of cycling without putting pressure on them to race.

However, Rollapaluza CC is a British Cycling registered club for those who do wish to compete and already has two qualified coaches and some experienced riders from the disciplines of track, road and MTB and also some of London’s top courier racers.

To coincide with the launch of their new club and services Rollapaluza have created two new websites: www.rollapaluza.com for all Rollapaluza race results, photos, events and information on bookings as well as a Rollapaluza history and rules and www.rollapaluza.cc, a club site that will allow all members to post their own articles, results and photos directly to the site as well as sharing their opinions, tactics and tips on the member-only forum.
