Prendas Lycra TT Overshoes £12.50
Nasty, lumpy things, cycling shoes, especially the uppers. Sprouting thick securing straps, buckles and other execrescences, they look like they stir the air up terribly at speed.
This, as any student of aerodynamics will know, is a bad thing from the drag point of view. If true, then wearing a pair of Prendas Ciclismo Lycra TT overshoes should lower air drag considerably, albeit to an unknown extent. Made in Italy in one size of stretchy Lycra and pulling easily over any shoe from size 40 to 46 (and probably larger and smaller sizes if necessary), they smooth out all the edges and bumps that roughen air flow and should increase speed during a time trial or similar effort.
Just as importantly, they look good in brilliant white, with the triangular Prendas logo giving proportion to the smooth-outlined shoe. The cleat and heel holes are stitched to maximise service life and the cuff is tight enough to ensure they stay where they are put. The only gripe we have is with their height on the leg; another 25mm would be ideal.
Black, blue, red, white, yellow.
