Rapha Merino Hat

Rapha Merino Hat £35

Is there anything that, when made from Merino wool, won’t offer unparalleled levels of warmth and comfort? It seems not, thinks Rapha, as the London clothing specialist releases its Merino Hat this winter.

Rapha’s Merino Hat is made from New Zealand-sourced Merino wool, with 5% Nylon added to the mix to increase durability. Slipping it on, it’s lovely and soft next to the skin of your ears, and it is thin enough to fit underneath a cycling helmet without obstruction to the straps or retention system of your helmet.

In use it’s good for a range of temperatures and offers incredible levels of insulation on bitterly cold days. If you do get a bit heated the Merino soaks up any excess sweat so effectively you’ll not notice in the first place. A 2.5in ear band puts an extra layer over your ears, but it can be folded up out of the way if you start overheating.

Available in just black, but it’s reversible with a Beluga tone inside if you fancy a change. A distinctive pink Rapha logo tab is a nice detail. One size fits all.

It’s also a cool hat for off the bike action too. Going down the pub, standing around wet muddy car parks etc etc.

Verdict

If you only buy one Rapha product this winter, make sure it’s this new Merino Hat – a warm head and ears are guaranteed
