Any hopes the Rollapaluza crew had of mingling with the stars and watching the top class track racing at this season’s Revolution opening meet disappeared at 5.30pm when the venue opened and a queue of eager racers of all ages formed at their sign-on desk.
In the next five hours 170 individuals competed on the now famous Rollapaluza rigs and roller-race-specific Condor bikes….but apparently over 250 times were set, this due to so many younger riders keen to have multiple attempts to better their times.
“We’re glad we brought two rigs!” said Paul Churchill of Rollapaluza; “We’re used to being busy, but this is exceptional.
“Having Rollapaluza at an event such as Revolution means that the public can be part of the event and competition as well as just watching it and they genuinely can claim to be taking part in the same competition as some of the sports stars such as Chris Hoy, Craig Maclean and many other athletes who have all competed on the exact same bikes and rigs.”
Full results and photos are up on the Rollapaluza site as well as details of their next event, the first round of their winter open London League, this Wednesday 19th November.
