Here’s a look behind the scenes at Team IG-Sigma Sport, one of six domestic teams competing in this year’s Tour of Britain.
Former Garmin-Cervelo rider, Roger Hammond, the team’s manager for the race, tells the team’s young riders that the eyes of the world will be upon them as they ride in peloton filled with established stars from the WorldTour peloton.
Team leader, Daniel Lloyd, once a teammate of Hammond at Garmin-Cervelo, says of Britain’s biggest stage race: “For the UK teams, this is what we’ve been waiting for for a long time.”
After a healthy breakfast, the team soon find themselves on the podium, signing on for the day’s stage, and preparing to roll out from the start line.
Today’s sixth stage from Welshpool to Caerphilly will take the riders over first category climbs in the Brecon Beacons, before finishing with two ascents of Caerphilly mountain.
