Revolution series 3 kicked off at Manchester Velodrome on Saturday night with some truly spectacular riding from a range of international stars.

The likes of Theo Bos, Victoria Pendleton and Chris Hoy really played up to the crowd and made for a great atmosphere in the packed out velodrome.

The British talent more than held their own on home soil and Women’s World Sprint Champ, Victoria Pendleton, rode to victory in the SheCycles.com sprint omnium against the Dutch. It was an excitingly close contest though and Dutch rider, Yvonne Hijgenaar certainly put Victoria’s form to the test in the sprint heats. However her strong performance failed to top that of the Sprint Champion who said she was once again “happily surprised” by her form.

Anna Blythe looked strong in her SheCycles.com team kit and, although she didn’t out-sprint the super quick Dutch duo, the seventeen year old made an impressive debut in the competition which featured only the best international riders.

The track hosted three non-stop hours of action-packed racing, topped by events like the impressively fast paced Madison, in which Cavendish and Hayles put in another winning performance.

The crowds waited with baited breath as mechanical problems prolonged the start of the 500m TT in which Chris Hoy was to go head to head with Theo Bos. However after a problematic start, Hoy put in a storming effort to take the win against Dutch rider, Bos. However, Bos’ consolation came in the form of the mass of female fans who were keen to compliment the young champ!

The Raleigh Future Stars competition was a highlight of the night’s entertainment and it was Welsh rider Lucy Richards and Manx RC’s Peter Kennaugh were consistently on top form across the events.

This was Lucy’s first time at Revolution and the talented young rider was pleased with the packed spectator stands, “It was really good, the crowds are amazing.”

So, if you didn’t manage to get to the event this time round, don’t miss out- keep an eye on the site for details of Revolution 10.
