Team Sky’s riders have enjoyed a fine start to 2012, with Bradley Wiggins, Richie Porte and Mark Cavendish all registering early-season victories – and the seeds to that success were sown in Majorca over the winter, as revealed in this film from team sponsor IG Markets.
Wiggins, who currently leads the Paris-Nice stage race, won the final time trial at the Volta ao Algarve, while Porte secured overall victory in the same race. Cavendish opened his 2012 tally with two wins at the Tour of Qatar before triumphing in the Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne semi-Classic.
The team’s main goals are to come, however, with Cavendish targetting victory in Milan-San Remo on Sunday March 17, kick-starting a Classics campaign which will see the likes of Bernhard Eisel and Ian Stannard come to the fore, before the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France and the Olympic Games.
The film, called Team Sky: Pushing Harder and part of the Insight into Cycling series, provides an insight into life at the squad’s pre-season training camp, with a series of graphics showing ride stats, as well as footage from training rides and team members discussing their goals for 2012.
