In Saturday’s 54km time trial, Alexandre Vinokourov, struggling all week with injuries, put in a storming ride to finish over a minute clear of Cadel Evans and Andreas Klöden. Yellow Jersey Michael Rasmussen confounded expectations to ride the best time trial of his career, taking 11th place and preserving his lead on GC. The rider they call Big Wigg finished 5th at 2’14 after topping the leader board for much of the day. p>
