British riders will be out in strength for the finale of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup when it arrives in Manchester 23-25th February.
The GB team entrants include Olympic Champions Chris Hoy and Bradley Wiggins and the registered trade teams of Science in Sport and 100% ME have entered talented teams including former world women’s sprint champion Victoria Pendleton.
The fierce competition between rival British teams will provide a nail biting spectacle. Wendy Houvenhagel and Rebecca Romero have already provided a close encounter when Houvenhagel narrowly defeated Romero in the final of the women’s 3,000m individual pursuit in Moscow by just 0.015 sec. Houvenhagel tops the world cup table for the women’s individual pursuit going into the last event.
Anna Blyth and Shanaze Reade will be the first British team to contest the women’s team sprint on Saturday night. The pair provide diverse backgrounds with Blyth an experienced track sprinter and Reade moving over to track racing from BMX.
