Space can be at a premium in a saddlebag or your jersey pockets, so you’ll want a compact, lightweight multi-tool for on-the-bike repairs. This one from Revolution fits the bill.
So let’s start by looking at the vital statistics. The Revolution Tune Up Multi 15 weighs 164g and is less than 3.5 inches long, by 1.5 inches broad, by 1 inch deep (8 x 4 x 2cm), with the flat profile making it easier to pack in a saddlebag on top of an inner tube.
As the name suggests, there are 15 tools on board, comprising 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8mm Allen keys, flat and Phillips-head screwdrivers, T25 Torx key (for disc brake bolts), chain rivet extractor and four sizes of spoke wrench (for DT, Wheelsmith, ‘other Europe’ and Asian spoke nipples).
The main draw of this multi-tool is its compact stature and, as a result, the allen keys are only short. That means there’s not a huge amount of leverage but it’s more than adequate for quick repairs and adjustments.
The tools themselves are made from hardened steel and the side plates are anodised aluminium, so it’s a sturdy piece of kit. Revolution’s trademark red looks smart, too.
Revolution is Edinburgh Bicycle Co-Operative’s in-house brand and they’ve developed a reputation for well-made, well-priced products and, at £14.99, this multi-tool is no different.
