A new event on the rapidly-expanding sportive calendar is the Burgess Hill Rumble, taking place on Sunday 31 August and set in the scenic countryside of West Sussex.
The ride will start and finish in Burgess Hill town centre, and three routes offer a range of challenges. The Tour is a relaxed 20 mile cruise, while the Challenge serves up 65miles and 1,378m of climbing and the Classic a menacing 95 miles and 1,971m of ascending.
The Classic route links the South Downs with the North Downs and takes riders up climbs such as Yorks Hill, Toys Hill, and Kidds Hill. There’s four feed stations, technical support, event timing and emergency medical support.
There’s still time to enter online at the website www.srs-events.cc, or you can enter on the day (with a £5 surcharge). Be quick though, as entries are limited to 300 places and it’s filling up fast. Oakmeads Community College in Burgess Hill is the HQ and signing-on starts at 7.30am.
