This year’s CTC challenges offer something for cyclists of all aspirations with a range of distances from Family routes to 150km romps across some of the most picturesque terrain in the country. You could accept the challenge of completing the full series or pick off places where you’ve never cycled before with events from Spring through Autumn and from the South West up to the Peaks and the North Yorkshire Moors.
Why not roam across historic Shakespeare country and the Historic Civil War battlegrounds in the Heart of England Challenge in May or join inimitable TV cycling commentator David Duffield on his favourite rides around his home in stunning Somerset countryside and challenging Cotswolds’ climbs.
The ups and downs of the North Yorkshire Moors are rewarded by breathtaking views and the pretty vales of York in the Ron Kitching Challenge in June. August’s Phil & Friends routes reward and challenge in equal measure climbs of Holme Moss and Winnats pass punctuated by picturesque Peak District villages of Hope and Castleton. The Southern Challenge, series finale in September has successfully grouped every undulation in the Sussex Wealds and Ashdown Forest to provide more than just an autumn amble.
The rides follow a simple formula: rewarding routes, stunning scenery and great camaraderie. This is then coupled to a sense of great satisfaction in both completing the route and in the knowledge that you are raising vital funds for CTC Charitable Trust.
