John Ibbotson, who died suddenly in 2005 of heart failure, was just 27 years old and a talented ex-professional cyclist with a very successful cycling coaching company. He was passionate about passing on his knowledge and expertise to other cyclists to enable them to succeed.
Set up in his memory, the John Ibbotson Fund consequently has strong links with CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young – website: www.c-r-y.org.uk), a charity that raises awareness of and supports those affected by heart conditions.
The aim of the fund is to support talented, young cyclists in their dream to race on the Continent for a season.
To ensure this support continues the fund committee members organise and run a number of fund raising events throughout the year.
We are holding a tea party on the 6th September and a ‘cake quest’ bike ride on the 12th October. All information can be found on our website: www.johnibbotsonfund.com.
