In a bid to highlight the best ideas in cycling facilities, community projects and other initiatives in London, the London Cycling Campaign (LCC) is inviting nominations for its annual awards, the London Cycling Awards.
The awards acknowledge people and projects that have done the most to benefit cycling in London and this year the categories are: Best cycle facility, best community cycling initiative, best cycling initiative for young people or children and, new for this year, London cycling personality of the year.
Previous winners have included British Waterways’ floating towpath at Limehouse, Waltham Forest for their bike recycling scheme and The Metro newspaper’s cycling column.
The nominations are open to anyone, and you could even nominate yourself, the main eligibility criteria are that nominated work must have been beneficial to cycling in London and must have been implemented since April 2003. And with apologies for everyone not based in the capital, the awards are restricted to London. If you’ve got a project in mind that you think deserves some recognition you’ve got until 17th September to submit your nomination, you can find out more at the LCC website.
