Pedal power for prostate cancer

‘Unite ByCycling’ is an initiative set up to raise awareness and support for prostate cancer, which will feature a range of cycling events involving both professional cyclists and the general public.

The activity is focussed around the UK’s premier professional cycling race, The Tour of Britain, and will extend to events that amateurs and cyclists of all abilities can enter, all with one goal in mind: to unite people through cycling and raise awareness of prostate cancer.

The launch this week was attended by Celebrity Ambassador for The Prostate Cancer Charity, DJ Neil Fox, along with Magnus Backstedt and Snowy Brooks, ex-senior decathlon champion and celebrity personal trainer who has been affected by prostate cancer.

The first event in the calendar is The Tour Series, followed by the Tour of Britain, Britain’s biggest free-to-attend sporting event, which runs from Saturday 12 to Saturday 19 September across eight demanding road stages.

In the coming weeks, The Tour of Britain and The Prostate Cancer Charity will be announcing a series of amateur participation events, in which the whole family can get involved, and cyclists of all ages and abilities should pre-register at www.unitebycycling.org.uk to ensure they get all the information on these exciting events first.
