Here’s an interesting story. We often find ourselves comparing bike brands to car brands, as it sometimes helps to differentiate between the different merits of each brand.
Anyway, BusinessWeek.com has recently published a feature about SRAM, from the rise of the early GripShift systems to the current in-demand RED groupset, and in doing so compared SRAM to Porsche. And Shimano to Lexus and Campagnolo to Ferrari.
So what do you think? Have they got that about right? I tend to think they’ve hit the spot about right, but I’m not sure if Porsche is the right brand for comparing to SRAM. What do you think? [Engineering-wise, Shimano is like a combination of the best from Honda, Mazda and Toyota – ed.]
