The closing day of the 2012 UCI Track World Championships in Melbourne brought another medal haul for Great Britain and a place at the top of the medal table.

Wendy Houvenaghel, with a point to prove after being left out of the women’s team pursuit squad, rode strongly to reach the final of the individual pursuit, where she won silver.
And Jess Varnish, among the world’s best ‘woman one’ riders in the team sprint, showed her pace from a standing start with third in the 500m TT.
