Chris Froome sealed a second Tour de France triumph on Sunday, and in doing so entered the history books as the first Brit ever to do so.
The Team Sky man, runner-up behind team-mate Sir Bradley Wiggins in 2012 and then winner in his own right in 2013 and 2015, also became the first Tour winner to also claim the King of the Mountains title since Eddy Merckx.
Add to the mix his stunning stage ten win on La Pierre-Saint-Martin, and the astuteness in week one which saw him put time into his rivals and he has proved himself as a first-rate all-round cyclist once again.
But where does he stand in the annals of British cycle sport history? We’ve picked out 15 of the greatest British track and road cyclists ever over the following pages.
